    Day 188

    Wednesday, August 18, 2010

So Chris and I have been looking for side/end tables for our family room for a while. Nothing is awesome unless it cost a bazillion dollars. I am not willing to spend that kind of money.
I came across www.knockoffwood.com  where they have plans for all kinds of stuff. We decided to build http://www.knock-offwood.com/2010/01/plan-hyde-side-table.html There are TONS of people who have made this side table. It is a knock off from a table that Pottery Barn sells for $200. I LUUUURVE it!
I sent my darling husband to Home Depot with the list of supplies and he came home 2 hours later with NOTHING. He told me it was not cut and dry and there is not really any of the right wood that the plans call for. I thought what an idiot, I guess I have to do it myself  thanks for trying.
This morning I packed both kids in the car and off we went to Home Depot. It appears as though my hubby was right. This really is a pain. Nashville does not carry any 4x4's in un-pressure treated wood. Incase you don't know, pressure treated wood is FULL of chemicals and is very dangerous to have inside your home. You should never build any inside furniture with it. I don't think Ana has posted this info on her website though. I see that a lot of people have made this table using the pressure treated wood. Needless to say, I am really irritated by this whole experience.
We also found another plan for the same design using 3x3's. Do you think we can find them? Yep...but they are $20/each and I need 4 of them. It would cost over $100 to make the table that is supposed to cost less than $30. Can you tell I am P.O'd?
Maybe I should just by the ones I like from Pottery Barn?!?!
    Stay tuned....this isn't over yet!
